42ND Illinois State Junior Girls' Championship

August 3-4, 2021

Aldeen Golf Club, Rockford, IL

Press Release: Tuesday First Round Play

High expectations, along with fast greens kept players on their toes at Aldeen G.C. in Rockford, Illinois for the first day of stroke play in the Illinois State Junior Girls’ Golf Championship.

The Low Net Medalist resulted in a tie, with a score of 72 by both Elyssa Abdullah (2025) and current two time champion Shannyn Vogler (2022). The Champions flight  has 14 players with scores ranging  from 72-76,.  The  overall winner can come from ANY flight.   That winner needs the low two day total. The Championship Flight is followed by 4 additional flights.  The competition scores were VERY evenly distributed, with scores increasing slightly within each flight.

Correcting an earlier piece of information there were 5 sisters teams not 3!  A sign of good things to come for our future championships.

The Julia Dodds presentation was made to Megan Thiravong (2021)  following play.

Isabella Peshek  was unavailable and has received her award via Face Time.

With perfect weather predicted for tomorrow we expect the  young ladies will figure out the greens and hopefully put up some good scores tomorrow.

Spectators are welcome, so come out and follow the action!
